Following its designation on January 1, 2002 as a Center for the Book within the Library of Congress, the NJ Center for the Book launched a statewide Clothespin Doll project.  Based upon NJ author Barbara Cohen’s book, Molly’s Pilgrim, students were encouraged to envision the immigrant experience and make their own clothespin dolls, many of which were exhibited at a reception at Drumthwacket, the Governor’s residence in Princeton.  The event, held on May 14, 2003, also honored NJ winners of the Library of Congress’s Letters About Literature national competition.
