In addition to being the world’s largest collection of jazz-related materials, the Institute of Jazz Studies can add yet another distinction to its name. The New Jersey Center for the Book (NJCB) designated the Institute a New Jersey literary landmark on October 23, 2013. The award recognizes the unique collections of the Institute and the significant role they have played in scholarly research on the subject of jazz as well as a resource for popular programming such as Ken Burns’ PBS documentary series, Jazz.
