Joshua Tiprigan wins 2009 Letters About Literature National Level 3 Competition

Joshua Tiprigan, a Northern Valley Regional High School junior, was honored by the New Jersey Center for the Book for his national winning essay in the New Jersey Center for the Book / Library of Congress 2009 Letters About Literature contest.  Mr. Tiprigan's essay was selected from 55,000 entries nationwide.

Joshua's essay won him the right to pick a library to receive $10,000. He picked Northvale Public Library where his mother, who died of cancer a year ago, had volunteered.

Letters About Literature, a program that asks young people in grades 4 through 12 to write to an author (living or dead) about how his or her book affected their lives, announced Mr. Tiprigan's selection among its 2009 winners.

Approximately 55,000 young readers from across the nation participated in this year’s Letters About Literature initiative, a reading-promotion program of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, presented in partnership with Target.
