The Miss Rumphius Award is based upon the title character of the 1983 National Book Award winner by Barbara Cooney. This prize honors librarians, school media specialists,and educators who are stellar in spreading ideas and literacy. More about eligibility, requirements and deadline for submission of nominations are below.
Eligibility: The nominee must be employed in New Jersey as a professional librarian, library staff member, certified educator or teacher assistant, and must have developed creative activities to enhance learning and literacy. The activity should be collaborative, innovative, and able to be replicated by other librarians and educators.
Requirements: The nominee must be willing to help produce his or her program for other classrooms and/or libraries.

Deadlines: The deadline for submissions for 2019 was February 15, 2019.
Award: A monetary award of $200.00 and a NJ Center for the Book Miss Rumphius Award certificate will be presented to the recipient later during the year at an appropriate library association meeting.
